KAYA supports importing your past ascents from other platforms using a .csv spreadsheet file.

Step 1: Get your data as a .csv file.

  • 8a.nu: Log in from a browser, go to your profile, select "My Logbook," click the edit (pencil) icon under the About section, scroll to "Logbook Export (CSV)," and download it.

  • Sendage: Log in, then export your .csv from Sendage's export link, or go to Profile > Settings > Export Sends.

  • Mountain Project: Go to your profile, click "View All" next to Ticks, then click "Export CSV."

  • Personal spreadsheet: If you keep your own spreadsheet, or another platform's format doesn't work, format it to match KAYA's import template.

Step 2: Format your .csv to match KAYA's import template.

  1. Download KAYA's import template.

  2. Open both your exported .csv and the template side by side.

  3. Copy your data into the matching rows of the template. Do not delete the first three rows of the template, or the import will fail.

    • Date column: must be formatted MM/DD/YYYY.

    • Area column: the destination name must match KAYA's naming exactly. Abbreviations won't match (for example, "LCC" won't match "Little Cottonwood Canyon," and "RRG" won't match "Red River Gorge").

    • Personal rating column: your own star rating for the climb, 1 for lowest quality, 5 for best.

    • Leave any column blank if you don't have that information.

  4. Save the finished file in .csv format onto the phone you have KAYA installed on.

Step 3: Import the .csv into KAYA.

  1. Open KAYA and make sure you're logged in.

  2. Tap your profile icon in the tab bar.

  3. Tap the ellipsis in the top right corner, then tap "Import Logbook."

  4. Tap "Import CSV" and select the .csv file from your phone.

  5. The import finishes within a few seconds and your profile updates with your ascents.
