Verified vs Unmoderated Destinations

WHAT ARE VERIFIED AND UNMODERATED DESTINATIONS?

KAYA PRO offers offline maps and climb data for two different types of outdoor destinations. What’s the difference between Verified and Unmoderated Destinations?

VERIFIED DESTINATIONS are KAYA’s official guidebooks and are identifiable by the green verified shield. These are destinations where the climb data has been vetted and approved by team KAYA in conjunction with a guidebook author or authors, and, often, a local climbing organization. In these areas, KAYA users can still add new climbs to the guidebook, but that data will need to be approved by the destination moderator.

What you can expect from a Verified Destination:

  • Accurate GPS coordinates for climbs and parking

  • Detailed approach information

  • Topos and descriptions for all climbs

  • Consistent updates to the data, including new climbs, hold breakage, area closures, etc.

UNMODERATED DESTINATIONS are currently supported by community data and do not yet have an official moderator. We can’t guarantee that GPS coordinates, grades, or descriptions are up to date in these destinations, but crowdsourced climb information still provides significant value to a climber looking for beta. In these areas, climbers are encouraged to add new climbs, descriptions, and GPS coordinates. For any incorrect data, climbers can use the Report Content feature in KAYA to let us know about needed changes. You can still use KAYA offline in unmoderated destinations.
