We are committed to creating an inclusive and respectful community on KAYA, governed by our Community Standards.
There are many climbing route and boulder names that violate our community standards by citing sexually explicit, racist, derogatory, homophobic, and sexist content. We’ve created a flagging system that does two things:
Informs users if a climb’s name has violated our standards
Masks the full climb’s name from view
In designing this feature, we took into account the following:
As much as possible, we’re working to reduce the likelihood that a user will discover an offensive climb name in KAYA
Ensure that users can still find a climb when searching for the climb using the original name
Provide an opportunity for the community to weigh in - Route names are sourced and driven by our climbing community and everyone deserves a voice
Our initial database of offensive names has been compiled thanks to Climb the Gap’s list of offensive route names.
To report an offensive climb name, click on the ellipsis icon (“•••”) on the climb’s page, which can be found in the upper right corner of the screen. When reporting the climb for offensive purposes, please include a note as to why you believe it violates our Community Standards.
