HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT A KAYA CHALLENGE? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS.
Below is a list of the most common questions and answers regarding gym events and comps run on KAYA, the climber's app.
Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score. Please reach out to your gym first with any scoring-related questions. If you don't know who the event coordinator is, the front desk staff should be able to direct you.
A Climb I Sent Isn't Contributing to my Score
There are a few different reasons a climb you logged may not be giving you points in a Challenge. These may include, but are not limited to:
Logging a climb after the cut-off date/time
Your challenge may have been configured so that eligible climbs expire after a certain date. Please double check the rules of the challenge and ensure you are logging climbs before they expire. You can reach out to your gym for questions about the rules.
Logging more than the maximum number of ascents per scoring interval
You have already logged the maximum number of ascents allowed. If your gym is restricting the number of ascents that count, you may have already logged enough climbs to earn your top score. If so, any additional ascents that do not award higher points will not be counted on your scorecard.
Logging a climb that is too far below your registered grade (for challenges using relative scoring)
If you are competing in a challenge with handicap scoring, you may have logged a climb that is too far below your ability to earn a score. For example, if you are registered as a V6 climber you will not receive points for logging a V1.
Logging climbs without having completed registration for your event or challenge
Make sure you have finished registration for the challenge prior to logging ascents. Your scores will not be counted if you log ascents, then register. If you logged ascents prior to registering, you will need to delete those ascents and relog them.
A Climb Disappeared from my Challenge Ascents List
If you are no longer receiving points for a climb you previously received points for, it will drop off your challenge scorecard. Reasons for this include:
The climb's grade was equal to or lower than a more recent climb you've logged, and your gym is only counting your top X ascents per scoring interval.
The routesetting team made a change to the climb. Check with your gym and setting team if you believe changes to a grade or climb have taken place.
Why Did My Registered Grade Go Up?
You were automatically bumped to a higher grade level because you logged climbs significantly above your level. This system is in place to prevent sandbagging.
The gym/event coordinator manually adjusted your registered grade level.
How Can I Change My Registered Grade?
Please contact your gym staff to request this change. Remember, Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score. If you don't know who the event coordinator is at your gym, the front desk staff should be able to direct you.
How Can I Change My Team Name?
Please contact your gym staff to request this change. Remember, Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score. If you don't know who the event coordinator is at your gym, the front desk staff should be able to direct you.
How Do I Add or Remove a User from a Team?
Please contact your gym staff to request this change. Remember, Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score. If you don't know who the event coordinator is at your gym, the front desk staff should be able to direct you.
Unregister/Leave a Challenge
Please contact your gym staff to request this change. Remember, Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score. If you don't know who the event coordinator is at your gym, the front desk staff should be able to direct you.
Injured During a Challenge

Please contact your gym staff to request this accommodation. Remember, Team KAYA requires approval from your gym and/or event coordinator to make any changes to your score.
